Etchings by Enrica

The process involves a series of steps beginning with coating copper plate with a tar like substance. The design is then drawn on the coated plate with a metal scribe. That exposes the underlying copper. Then placed in an acid solution which eats away slightly at the exposed metal leaving the design permanently etched on the plate. Tar like substance then removed then ready to use ink. The next step is to delicately hand ink the plate with a variety of colours using the tip of a toothpick. A dampened paper is placed against the inked plate and passed through a hand press. Finally, the etching is placed in a brass edged aluminum backed frame. This process is repeated with each etching.  Each piece is signed and numbered in limited numbers.  Made in Mexico.
